If I had to choose between starving silently and rioting for food I would definently riot!
Sometimes violence is the way to get through people who can't understand that you will DIE without food, or at least those who chose to ignore the situation. Violence can make people react faster to the situation while putting them under pressure.
Rioting is the way to go if you'd like to get fed, at least in Haiti it is.
